Assassin's Creed on the deck is such a good time. I played the first Assassin's Creed on it a few months ago for the first time. The small screen makes the old graphics charming where they would probably irritate me on my laptop. I'm high on the series at the moment and have a grand delusion that I will play all of them in order.

Remember when I didn't know so much about Kristen Bell's marriage? This game is taking me back to a simpler time when I was happy to see her show up in things.

Currently playing: Fallout Shelter

Platform: PC

This reminds me so much of some hotel builder game I played in the early 2000s. Relatively good free-to-play game that doesn't push the monetization. I'm only playing it to 100% games that I have on my Steam account, but I'm having a good time.

Currently playing: Adventure Capitalist

Platform: PC, Steamdeck

I haven't received an achievement in a month despite opening this game twice a day. I'm playing out of pure stubbornness at this point.

Old Notes:This was already in my Steam account from me 'needing' something to click on my phone when I'm bored a while back. I have tried to occupy my time in better ways and plan to not play these games in the future. Is it worth it? No. Is it going to make me feel immensely satisfied for a few minutes when I get all of the achievements? Yes. I'll be better in the future.

Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs

Platform: Steamdeck

I got this from Humble Bundle a while back and popped it on my deck for a quick backlog win and..I did not like it. It was not scary and made me a little motion sick. I think the ending really picks up but my attention span could not do it.

Cyberpunk 2077

Platform: Steamdeck

I really enjoyed this one! The pacing is a bit weird, but it's a compelling story and fun to play. Most of the bugs are sorted out. I'm going to buy the DLC at some point and play again. This game was the first time that I strategically saved my progress before the Point of No Return and replayed a few different endings.

Old Notes

I just want Johnny Silverhand to be nice to me. He kind of is now! I'm working on setting him up with all of his old besties for one final gig. I'm sure it will be low-key and normal! I am diligently avoiding spoilers for the ending(s) and know that I'm not going to be able to 100% this the first try.

Dragon Age (TM): The Veilguard

Platform: Steamdeck/PC

I was zipping through the main quest and then hit a dragon that I couldn't beat even turning the difficulty down. I didn't realize I needed to be strategically saving and would have had to redo three hours of gameplay to grind the leveling to beat it. So I quit. Also, Dorian. Poor Dorian. What did they do to my boy?

Old Notes:

Please know that the (TM) is sarcastic on my end. This game is not good. I saw the bad reviews and was like "surely people are just being too harsh?". No. It feels like brain rot. The character design is weird and the writing is dog shit. I really liked the other Dragon Age games so I am trying to see if I can complete it.

Nice things (because I do try to keep my website positive):

  • I could give my character top-surgery scars and boobs, which makes me feel warm and fuzzy as someone that had a double mastectomy and reconstruction. Representation is nice even if I am sure they didn't mean to represent me.
  • Morrigan. I'm into Morrigan. They haven't managed to kill that, yet.

    11-11 Memories Retold

    Platform: Steamdeck

This would be an utterly wild use of $30, but if you grab it on sale it's a good use of a few hours. I remembered a lot more from AP US History than I thought I did. What the game does well it does really well. It kind of falls apart towards the end but not enough to ruin the experience.

Old Notes:I got this on Humble Bundle ages ago, opened it and immediately noped out on the art style. I don't think I would enjoy playing this on my laptop but it's really working for me on the Steam Deck! I didn't think I would usually be into an artsy video game about the horrors of trench warfare in WWI but here we are.

    Platform: Steamdeck

I previously played this on my laptop five years ago and didn't get very far. I didn't get any further on the deck. The rate that it requires me to push buttons aggravates my repetitive stress injury in my thumb so this is unplayable for me. It's a shame, it seems cute.

    60 Parsecs!

    Platform: Steamdeck

I had to look up how to play. Maybe I'm stupid. It's largely text based and I thought the first run was really fun..the subsequent ones kind of dragged. I'll probably come back to it later to try for more of the achievements but it's not one that I'm going to play for days on end.

    The Adventure Pals

    Platform: Steamdeck

Another Humble Bundle game for me that I am retrying on the Steamdeck. It's another button-masher that bothers my thumb, unfortunately. Grabbed a few more achievements this run and then needed to close it.

    Slay the Spire

    Platform: Steamdeck

I really loved this when I played it on my laptop five years ago. I thought I would love it more on the Steamdeck and didn't for whatever reason. The repetitive nature and lack of anything carrying over from run to run wasn't charming anymore. I don't typically like roguelikes so liking it so much the first time was an anomaly.
